1380°C and a Gentle Touch: The Art of Handcrafted Porcelain Blooms

Take a journey behind the scenes to witness the birth of a Porcelain Floral Diffuser. From raw clay to an everlasting bloom fired at 1380°C, discover the artistry and patience behind every petal.

At Home Is Home, we believe that the objects in your sanctuary should tell a story. Have you ever wondered how a simple lump of earth transforms into a delicate, fragrant peony that never fades?

Today, we’re taking you behind the scenes of our studio to witness the birth of a Porcelain Floral Diffuser. It’s a journey of patience, precision, and thousands of years of tradition.

Step-by-Step Artistry

1. Kneading the Clay

It all starts with pure, high-quality porcelain clay. The kneading process is essential—it removes air bubbles and ensures the material is smooth enough to be worked into paper-thin petals. It is a moment of grounding and preparation.

2. Pinching the Petals

This is where the magic happens. Every single petal is hand-pinched. Using only their fingertips and simple bamboo tools, our artisans shape the clay until it mimics the organic curves and delicate ruffles of a real flower. No two petals—and no two flowers—are ever exactly the same.

3. Making the Core & Combining

A flower is only as beautiful as its heart. We painstakingly create the intricate core (stamen) before “planting” each hand-pinched petal around it. One by one, the flower grows, layer by layer, in a process that requires absolute focus.

4. The Fire and the Splicing

After the final “Splicing,” these fragile creations enter the kiln. They are fired at a staggering 1380°C (2516°F). This extreme heat transforms the soft clay into durable, translucent porcelain that captures a moment of nature forever.

A Ritual for Your Senses

Once cooled, the porcelain flower is ready for its final purpose. Because porcelain is naturally porous before glazing, it acts as the perfect diffuser.

Simply add a few drops of your favorite essential oil onto the petals. The flower absorbs the essence and slowly releases a gentle, lingering fragrance into your room. It is a ritual of sight and scent—a piece of art that breathes life into your home.
